About the Position

Job Opportunity – Postpartum Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 36-hour orientation provided; weekend coverage required; may float to units of similar acuity as needed

Highlights:

• 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit providing family-centered care to women and healthy newborns
• Daily census of approximately 60 patients; couplet care model
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Care for postpartum patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries, postpartum readmissions, healthy newborns, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) infants
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, interpretation services, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Telemetry interpretation required; EKG exam must be passed prior to start date

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of recent postpartum nursing experience required
• Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of submission)
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• IV certification and demonstrated IV start skills required
• Labor and delivery (L&D) experience required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required: at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous travel nursing experience

Key Skills:

• Administration of blood and blood products, antihypertensives, bladder assessment/Foley catheter insertion, breastfeeding instructions, cesarean section care, cord care, couplet care
• Discharge teaching to parents, episiotomy/incision care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, infant identification, IV antibiotics
• Magnesium sulfate therapy, metabolic screening, neonatal abstinence syndrome management, newborn assessment, newborn hypoglycemia management
• Pain assessment and management, phototherapy, Pitocin administration, postpartum hemorrhage management, pregnancy-induced hypertension care
• Starting and maintaining IVs, circumcision care teaching, thermoregulation, vaccine administration

• Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately after contract signing
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; packets will be mailed to those at extreme distances
• Two instances of pre-approved time off available
• Former employees must have been away from the facility for 6 months or more to be eligible
• Current employees are not eligible for travel positions
