Business Development Manager - Primary Metals Location: Harvey, IL, US, 60426 FUCHS Lubricants Co. is the United States operating unit of FUCHS S.E., the world's largest independent manufacturer of specialty lubricants with global sales of over $3.5 Billion. It provides high‑quality lubricants and services to a wide range of industries such as automotive, appliance, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, transportation, food and beverage, mining, and energy. Salary Range: $155,000 – $165,000 plus a competitive bonus plan. Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Your Responsibilities Drive new business development at the corporate level of accounts, collaborating with Sales Directors, Sales Managers, Sales Engineers, Application Engineers, Product Managers, and other key team members to establish priorities and achieve objectives. Conduct ongoing market research to strengthen industry expertise, keeping abreast of market changes, recognizing emerging trends, and identifying market opportunities. Lead FUCHS’ industry segment strategies. Maintain and develop good working relationships with existing and new clients to enhance client retention and new sales. Possess a strong understanding of our products, the competition in the industry, and positioning. Selling, marketing, and promoting all products and services offered by the company within the basic metals industry segment. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and requirements. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and engaging in professional organizations. Demonstrate the benefits of the company’s product line to customers, ensuring proper selection and application of products through on‑site visits at steel mill facilities nationwide. Represent the company at industry events and trade shows, collaborating with Marketing and other internal stakeholders to prepare for such events. Travel Must be able to travel up to 75% throughout the U.S. Qualifications we are looking for A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong working knowledge of the metals industry and adjacent industries. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high‑level business development position. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal resources to resolve equipment/lubricant related issues. Established internal and external network in the basic metals industry required. High level of personal drive and self‑motivation with strong time‑management and prioritization skills. A passion for achieving business goals and sales targets. Ability to set day‑to‑day priorities within overall priority listings, working independently and as part of a team.
