RN – Step Down (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Contract | Days | 3 × 12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity, cardiac-focused step-down nursing care to a diverse patient population including heart failure, A-Fib, LVAD, and heart transplant patients
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers — no remediation permitted
• Administer and manage common cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Assist with and provide post-procedural care for right/left heart catheterizations, sheath removal, TR band management, stent placement, cardioversions, ablations, pacemakers, ICDs, and groin site management
• Manage chest tubes and support patients undergoing STEMI/NSTEMI care and valve replacement procedures
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers are not eligible for the Cardiac Monitor Tech float role

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Georgia (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drips, telemetry interpretation, and prior successful completion of a telemetry exam
• Must have chest tube experience
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must achieve a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the required skills checklist

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant nursing experience (training may be available)
• LVAD experience (training may be available)
• Familiarity with high-volume procedural cardiac environments including STEMI/NSTEMI and electrophysiology procedures
• Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac PCU or step-down setting
