FIRE CAPTAIN CORRECTION INSTITUTION

Fire Captain, CI Responsible for fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous materials management and training of incarcerated residents assigned to the Fire Department. Assists in the maintenance of Fire Department equipment and supports overall safety operations on the California Men's Colony campus. Responsibilities Conduct fire prevention inspections and enforce fire safety regulations. Respond to and suppress fires and hazardous materials incidents. Lead training programs for incarcerated residents in fire safety, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response. Maintain and inspect Fire Department equipment and supplies. Assist in the development and implementation of fire safety policies and procedures. Minimum Requirements Passing a drug screening and a background investigation. Medical clearance and a psychological evaluation clearance, obtained prior to hire. Minimum age of 21 years. Must not have any felony convictions. Completion of an academy‑duration training program (exact duration TBD). Required to complete a mandatory arrest and firearms training course as dictated by Penal Code Section 832. Desirable Qualifications Demonstrated emotional maturity and stability. Leadership experience and effective communication skills. Ability to work nights and respond to emergencies as needed.
