ABOUT ALLIANCE COLLEGE-READY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is a nonprofit public charter network operating 25 schools that educate approximately 13,000 scholars in Los Angeles. The schools serve diverse communities and have earned national recognition for academic excellence. ROLE SUMMARY Deans of Scholars facilitate an inclusive school community that promotes high academic achievement, wellness, belonging, accountability, and collective responsibility among scholars, families, and staff. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES School Culture and Climate Lead and sustain culture initiatives aligned with network priorities. Implement Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) with a trauma‑informed approach. Facilitate conversations about race to build an equitable, inclusive, and culturally relevant school culture. Promote scholar health, safety, and welfare through inclusive activities and events. Scholar Behavior, Discipline, and Safety Oversee discipline record keeping, incident investigations, and report writing. Lead targeted behavior systems using research‑based interventions and restorative practices. Manage suspension and alternative‑to‑suspension processes. Develop behavior support plans and coordinate re‑entry and IEP/504 meetings. Monitor and adjust school systems, routines, and procedures for safety. Coordinate supervision and transition systems throughout the school. Family Engagement and Relationships Model and coach staff on building strong relationships with scholars and families. Plan and lead parent conferences for behavior and attendance issues. Maintain regular communication with families via email, phone, and in‑person. Scholar Attendance Participate in attendance team and support strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism. Analyze attendance data with behavior and academic data to guide interventions. Culture/SEL Team and Data Leadership Lead the SEL team to capture, share, and analyze culture data. Collect and analyze data on referrals, suspensions, and violence. Lead data analysis with a trauma‑informed lens. Staff Development and Support Use culture data to plan and facilitate professional development. Provide coaching and feedback on classroom environments and PBIS implementation. Conduct classroom observations and walkthroughs to inform teacher improvement. Partner with instructional coaches on culture practices. Uphold and follow school policies and perform related duties as assigned. IDEAL CANDIDATES Seeking experienced educators who coach adults, hold a strong belief in equitable education, possess a growth mindset, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience in urban public or charter schools is desirable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. At least 4 years of progressive professional experience in a related field, including 1 year of school leadership managing adults and a multi‑tiered support system. Preferred: 2+ years in a public or charter school in an urban setting.
