Job Description

This weekend shift Mechanical Assembler role focuses on assembling metal hatches and panels using hand and power tools in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work from blueprints, prepare panels for painting, package completed assemblies, and support multiple departments through cross-training. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and comfortable working with tools in a hands-on setting.

Responsibilities

• Assemble hatches and panels using hand and power tools such as drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque tools, and tape measures.

• Read and interpret blueprints to accurately complete mechanical assemblies according to specifications.

• Prepare panels for painting by installing insulation and hanging panels on hooks or racks.

• Package completed assemblies carefully and accurately to fulfill customer orders.

• Cross-train in various departments to provide support and fill in where needed across the production floor.

• Use mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot basic assembly issues and ensure components fit and function correctly.

• Follow all safety procedures while using hand tools, power tools, and torque tools.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area in a metal manufacturing environment.

• Lift and move materials and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of mechanical assembly experience.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints for mechanical assemblies.

• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components.

• Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.

• Proficiency using power tools such as drills and torque tools.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical assembly in environments similar to auto or auto body shops.

• Comfort working with metal components and hardware.

• Experience using torque tools and understanding of correct torque application.

• Familiarity with basic automotive or mechanical tasks (such as oil changes) that demonstrate mechanical inclination.

• Willingness to cross-train and work in multiple departments as needed.

• Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality, accurate assemblies.

Work Environment

This role is on a weekend shift schedule, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a paid 36-hour workweek and a shift differential for weekend hours. The position is based in a metal manufacturing environment that is comparable to an auto body shop, with a dirtier, hands-on setting where you regularly work with metal parts, tools, and equipment. The facility operates as a non-union shop. You will spend most of your time on the production floor using hand tools, power tools, and torque tools, working both independently and alongside other team members to complete assemblies and support various departments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
