Gastroenterology Physician - Locum Opportunity

Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for an inpatient acute care setting. This opportunity is ideal for physicians experienced in managing adult gastroenterology patients, performing ERCP procedures, and providing comprehensive inpatient GI care. The assignment begins on  November 2, 2026 , or as soon as credentialing is complete, with four openings available.

• Acute Care Hospital
• Inpatient-only practice with hospital privileges
• Adult patient population
• Average daily census of approximately 10 patients
• The provider will serve as the primary inpatient Gastroenterologist with access to specialty consultants and outpatient GI colleagues for clinical support as needed.
• Opening created to address gaps in physician coverage
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Adult Trauma Level II/III/IV facility

Job Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology coverage
• Conduct daily patient rounding
• Evaluate and manage new gastroenterology consults
• Perform GI procedures, including ERCP (required)
• Deliver care for adult patients in an inpatient setting
• Collaborate with specialty consultants and outpatient GI colleagues as needed
• Participate in scheduled daytime shifts and required night call coverage
• Maintain clinical documentation using Epic EMR
• Provide documentation of recent gastroenterology clinical activity/case logs as required for credentialing

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Gastroenterology (BC)
• Active Oregon medical license or willingness to obtain one
• Minimum of 2 years of Gastroenterology experience
• Current ACLS certification
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Demonstrated inpatient Gastroenterology experience
• ERCP proficiency is required
• Documentation of gastroenterology services representative of the requested privileges within the previous 24 months (or training logs for recent graduates)
• COVID-19 vaccination required (no exemptions)

Working Hours

• Assignment Start: November 2, 2026 , or as soon as credentialed
• 10-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Five scheduled day shifts
• Scheduled shifts plus required on-call coverage
• Night call required
• Schedule to be determined
• 8 hours of billable orientation
• Holiday coverage may be required for:
  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
