Director, Pharmacy; Mount Auburn Hospital

Job Description This position is responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating the operation of Pharmacy Services. The Director of Pharmacy Services shall develop services that provide and enhance quality patient care while promoting fiscal responsibility in the utilization of resources. The incumbent will be responsible for regulatory compliance and for directing the purchasing, receiving, storage, delivery, and distribution of medications. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for all routine operations of the Department of Pharmacy Services. Develops programs, goals and objectives consistent with the organization’s overall strategic plan. Develops operational and capital budgets and manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget. Implements, coordinates, monitors, evaluates and integrates pharmacy services to contribute to the overall success and financial viability of pharmacy services. Provides appropriate pharmacy representation on hospital and medical staff committees; serves as a professional resource for Physicians, Clinical Staff and Administration. Collaborates with Medical Staff and Clinical Staff regarding pharmacy programs and services. Defines and resolves issues with the medication distribution system and continually evaluates performance relative to need for improvement of processes to assure the safe and appropriate delivery of medications. Plans, supports and leads Quality Improvement efforts for relevant pharmacy services. Manages human resources by recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified candidates; evaluates staff performance; develops hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Develops and monitors departmental policies and procedures; ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory agency standards. Strives to improve patient safety in all aspects of performance of the above essential functions; reports medication errors and attends safety in‑services when appropriate. Performs all other duties related to the position as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current pharmacy licensure in the State of Massachusetts and a degree in Pharmacy (advanced degree preferred) from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Minimum of one-year pharmacy management experience. Good organizational, computer, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of staff, Physicians and other contacts. Physical/Mental Demands & Environment Requires independent thinking, excellent communication, listening, writing, public speaking and analytical skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all educational levels and with a variety of professional disciplines. Must be able to deal with stress and function independently. Requires strong organizational, operational and time‑management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. Requires periods of prolonged sitting, standing, walking and, when necessary, travel; work generally performed in an office environment. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: $195,000.00 - $213,990.40 USD. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities and other applicable factors permissible by law.
