Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day accounts payable operations in a fully remote environment. This position will be responsible for invoice processing, payment preparation, vendor account maintenance, reconciliations, and resolving invoice discrepancies.



Location: Remote

Employment Type: Contract, 2-3 months with potential for contract-to-hire

Preferred Hours: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM EST; some flexibility may be available


The initial contract is expected to last approximately 2-3 months , with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on business needs.
Responsibilities

• Assemble, review, and verify invoices and payment requests for accuracy.
• Sort, code, match, enter, and upload invoices into the appropriate systems.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments remain current.
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
• Prepare and process check runs.
• Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
• Maintain accurate vendor files and historical records.
• Ensure financial and organizational information remains confidential.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and vendors to resolve accounts payable inquiries.
• Maintain accuracy and meet established processing deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 1+ year of Accounts Payable experience.
• Working knowledge of general accounting and accounts payable procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel .
• Strong data-entry and data-management skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
