Associate Attorney

Role Description

Associate Attorneys will work full time on-site in Detroit, MI, supporting litigation and advisory matters across the firm's diverse practice areas. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents, and providing legal analysis to support case strategy. Associates will participate in client meetings, assist in discovery and case preparation, and engage in negotiations, mediations, and court appearances as appropriate under supervision. The role involves close collaboration with partners and other team members to deliver high-quality, timely legal services, while maintaining strong professional ethics and client confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law with the ability to analyze statutes, case law, and regulations relevant to the firm's practice areas.
• Experience providing clear, practical Legal Advice to clients or internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in legal Research, including electronic research tools and drafting research memoranda.
• Effective Negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediations, and client advocacy.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license (or eligibility for admission) to practice law in Michigan.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Prior experience in litigation, insurance defense, or related practice areas is preferred but not required.
• General Civil Litigation, Insurance Coverage, Commercial Litigation, Appellate, Professional Liability.
