Work Environment As a Remote Mental Health Counselor, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, all dedicated to optimizing client care. Our outpatient office facilitates seamless communication and coordination, allowing you to focus on providing excellent therapeutic services. We utilize advanced electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, to ensure that patient data is efficiently managed and accessible. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations through initial consultations, documenting client histories and identifying mental, behavioral, and emotional health concerns. Develop individualized treatment plans that encompass evidence-based interventions for individuals, couples, and families, tailoring approaches to fit unique situations. Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic techniques to work through issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and more. Regularly monitor client progress throughout treatment, adjusting intervention strategies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. Collaborate actively with other healthcare professionals, ensuring all aspects of a client's health are addressed, including coordinating care with hospital psychiatrists and attending physicians. Proactively identify and mitigate behaviors that may hinder recovery, providing education and support to clients and their families. Manage referrals to additional services or specialists when necessary, serving as a resource for clients throughout their mental health journey. Patient Population / Client Focus Your work will largely focus on serving a diverse outpatient patient population that includes individuals facing conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related disorders, and more. You will be instrumental in guiding clients towards recovery and improved mental health through personalized intervention strategies and supportive counseling. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New Jersey. Successful completion and passing of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE). Previous experience in a mental health counseling role is highly desirable. Proficiency in using electronic health recording systems, specifically AVATAR or similar technologies. Preferred Experience Experience in addressing a range of physical and emotional health conditions, including addiction disorders. Familiarity with best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA). In-depth understanding of psychotropic medications prescribed by healthcare providers. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities for accurate documentation and effective interactions with clients.
