You'll lead a multi-layer accounting organization, partner closely with Finance, FP&A, Program Finance, and Operations leadership, and play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational excellence.San Diego, CA (Onsite) One Work-From-Home Day Per Week 9/80 Schedule with Every Other Friday Off Relocation Assistance AvailableWhat You'll DoLeadership & Business PartnershipLead, mentor, and develop multiple accounting teams, including managers and direct contributorsServe as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technical accounting, financial reporting, and contract-related mattersPartner closely with FP&A, Program Finance, Contracts, Operations, and Senior leadership teams to support strategic decision-makingFoster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the accounting organizationRevenue Recognition & Contract AccountingOversee revenue recognition for a diverse portfolio of government and commercial contracts in accordance with ASC 606Review contract terms and evaluate accounting treatment, financial risk, cash flow implications, and reporting requirementsInfluence accounting outcomes throughout the contract lifecycle, including proposal, capture, negotiation, and award phasesProvide guidance on complex accounting transactions and non-routine business eventsFinancial Reporting & ComplianceEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and company policiesOversee accounting functions including contract accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, and related financial operationsMaintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, and other government contracting requirementsSupport external audits, regulatory audits, and ongoing audit readiness initiativesProcess Improvement & Operational ExcellenceDrive accounting process improvements and operational efficiencies across multiple functionsStrengthen reporting processes, controls, and departmental proceduresEvaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve scalability, accuracy, and effectivenessSupport organizational growth through best practices and innovative accounting solutionsQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field11+ years of progressive accounting and finance experienceSignificant experience with ASC 606 revenue recognitionStrong background in government contract accountingExperience overseeing multiple accounting functions and teamsExperience managing managers and leading multi-layer organizationsStrong knowledge of US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and internal controlsExperience supporting audits and compliance activitiesAdvanced Excel skillsStrong leadership, communication, and presentation abilitiesAbility to navigate complex accounting issues and influence decision-making across the organizationPreferredCPA, CMA, or MBAPublic accounting or Big Four experienceManufacturing, aerospace, or defense industry experienceExperience working directly with government agencies on accounting-related mattersKnowledge of Warranty Accounting, Offset Accounting, or Cost Share AccountingExperience leading large-scale process improvement or transformation initiativesJob Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Poway, CA.Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $155000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
