We are currently looking for a Process Safety Specialist in Houston, TX.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Process Safety Specialist supports Boardwalk's efforts to strengthen operational discipline, advance safety culture maturity, and improve the effectiveness of its Process Safety Management (PSM), Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS), and operational risk programs.

The role serves as a key contributor in developing practical, fit-for-purpose systems that improve operational readiness, strengthen accountable decision-making, support consistent execution, and reduce dependence on individual knowledge and experience. Working across Operations, Engineering, Integrity, Reliability, Environmental, Compliance, and Project Execution, this position helps integrate process safety and operational risk principles into how work is planned, evaluated, executed, and improved throughout the organization.

The Analyst supports enterprise initiatives focused on process safety metrics, Operational Risk Matrix (ORM) effectiveness, Management of Change (MOC), organizational learning, and cross-functional risk management. The position helps ensure leadership receives meaningful operational risk information that drives action, strengthens organizational resilience, and supports safe and reliable growth.

Core Areas of Accountability

Process Safety & PSMS

• Support governance, implementation, and continual improvement of Process Safety and Pipeline Safety Management System initiatives.

• Integrate process safety principles across planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and organizational change activities.

• Support hazard identification, barrier management, risk assessments, and incident-learning processes.

• Facilitate organizational learning from incidents, near misses, and industry events.

Operational Risk Management

• Support administration and continual improvement of the Operational Risk Matrix.

• Evaluate risk assessment quality, consistency, and application across operating regions.

• Help strengthen risk-informed decision-making and risk communication throughout the organization.

• Identify emerging operational risks and support practical mitigation strategies.

Critical Operating Requirements

• Participate in evaluations of process safety metrics, organizational communication, operational risk practices, and Management of Change effectiveness.

• Ensure critical operating requirements are understood, practical, consistently applied, and aligned with operational realities.

• Support field engagement efforts to improve adoption and effectiveness of operational risk controls.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

Management of Change

• Support governance and execution of Management of Change processes.

• Improve accountability, communication, documentation, and implementation consistency.

• Verify risk assessments, action items, training requirements, and closeout expectations are effectively managed.

• Promote MOC as an operational discipline rather than a compliance exercise.

Analytics & Performance

• Develop meaningful process safety, operational risk, and PSMS performance indicators.

• Analyze trends and identify opportunities for corrective action and continuous improvement.

• Develop executive reporting and dashboards that provide leadership with reliable operational risk information.

• Evaluate whether metrics are driving intended behaviors and improving risk management outcomes.

Organizational Learning & Continuous Improvement

• Support root-cause investigations and corrective-action management.

• Translate lessons learned into improvements to procedures, standards, training, management systems, and operating practices.

• Support development of repeatable continuous-improvement processes across the organization.

• Promote consistent execution and preservation of institutional knowledge.
