HR Operations & Onboarding Specialist

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused Human Resources Coordinator to support day-to-day HR operations, payroll administration, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and recruitment efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with employees and management while keeping HR processes organized, accurate, and running smoothly. The Human Resources Coordinator will assist with payroll, HRIS updates, employee files, benefits administration, leave tracking, new hire onboarding, training coordination, and general HR support across the organization. Key Responsibilities Process payroll and maintain related records, including timeclock entries, vacation/sick time allocation, and coordination with supervisors to ensure accuracy. Administer employee benefits, including eligibility, enrollments, changes, terminations, payroll deductions, and required documentation for insurance providers. Support leave of absence administration, including personal leave, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and military leave. Assist with onboarding, offboarding, employee file maintenance, HRIS updates, I-9 verification, and recordkeeping. Coordinate and support recruitment efforts, including candidate tracking, follow-up communication, and participation in job fairs for part-time staffing needs. Support the development and maintenance of job descriptions in partnership with department leaders. Assist with internship program coordination in partnership with hospitality/restaurant management teams and industry-specific education programs. Help facilitate new hire orientation, departmental training programs, and employee training activities. Provide employee support by answering questions related to onboarding platforms, benefits, HR systems, policies, and general HR processes. Conduct audits related to payroll, benefits, employee records, and other HR programs to ensure accuracy and compliance. Promote a positive employee experience and help support initiatives aimed at making the organization an employer of choice. Perform general administrative duties including filing, document preparation, copying, and other clerical support as needed. Support additional HR projects and duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered. Minimum of 2 years of HR, payroll, administrative, or related experience. Experience with ADP, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Prior experience in hospitality, restaurant management, or a fast-paced service environment is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate employee records. Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Customer-service mindset with a willingness to support employees and leadership across the organization. Physical Requirements Ability to perform essential job functions safely and consistently in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local standards. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear as required throughout the workday.
