The unit cares for a variety of disease processes involving respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal systems. The schedule includes night shifts with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend is required for staffing. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Time off must be scheduled around the policy in place. Candidates can submit with a pending Virginia license. All nurses must adhere to the floating policy of the facility. Previous charge experience is preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience managing a patient ratio of 5. Experience with the Epic charting system is required. Travel experience is also required. Key skills include managing chest tubes, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and heparin protocols. Candidates should be familiar with PCA, telemetry, and tracheostomy care. The unit works closely with interdisciplinary support including therapy and pharmacy services. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, and heart failure. The daily census is approximately 25 patients. Nursing duties may include nurse-driven insulin drips and telemetry monitoring. This position requires the ability to work within a fast-paced environment and to provide quality patient care.
