Director of Operations

Confidential | Midtown Manhattan | Onsite Our client, a highly respected and mission-driven investment organization, is seeking a Deputy Director of Operations to join its collaborative New York City team. This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly visible, multifaceted operations role at a lean, entrepreneurial firm where you'll have meaningful ownership across office operations, HR administration, project management, events, technology initiatives, and sustainability efforts. Compensation & Schedule: $145,000–$150,000 base salary + disc. Bonus Fully onsite, Monday through Friday Standard hours of 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with flexibility as needed Responsibilities include: Oversee day-to-day office operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes and operational best practices. Manage HR operations including onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, employee policies, leave tracking, and professional development coordination. Lead planning and execution of both internal and external events, ranging from executive dinners to large-scale industry programming. Supervise and support the Receptionist/Office Coordinator while serving as backup for front-of-house responsibilities when needed. Lead cross-functional operational projects, including technology implementations, vendor selection, CRM initiatives, procurement improvements, and workflow optimization. Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies, including AI tools, to improve efficiency across the organization. Support sustainability initiatives by tracking operational metrics and recommending environmentally responsible practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Approximately 5–8 years of operations, project management, business operations, or similar experience, ideally within financial services or another fast-paced professional environment. Experience working within a lean organization where flexibility and ownership are essential. Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable planning high-touch events and interacting with senior executives and external stakeholders. Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and an interest in leveraging AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar) to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
