Medical Lab Scientist

We are seeking a Medical Lab Scientist with experience in Point of Care Testing to join our team. The ideal candidate should be willing to perform clerical duties as assigned by nursing and laboratory management in support of operations.

Assignment Details

• Length: 13 weeks with an option to extend to 26 weeks
• Location: Taylorsville, UT
• Shift: 7 on/off, 10 hours per day
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

• Number of Treatment Rooms: 10
• Number of Staff: 8 Lab Technologists
• Type of Equipment: Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, Aerospray stainer
• EMR System: EPIC

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, quality control, calibrations on analyzers, and patient testing, including waived and non-waived tests.
• Process specimens including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and performing routine cleaning of lab surfaces.

Qualifications

• Required: Certification as an MLS through ASCP or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS.
• Preferred: Experience with EPIC and familiarity with the analyzers listed above.

Personality Fit

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both laboratory and non-laboratory staff, as the role involves interfacing with clinical staff in the emergency department.

Dress Code

Scrub color: Pewter (lab coat provided).
