Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations in real-time situations, often alongside law enforcement personnel, to assess mental health needs and determine the necessity for 5150/5585 involuntary detention applications.

• Document confidential patient information meticulously to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

• Effectively communicate with law enforcement, Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) staff, hospital personnel, and psychiatrists to ensure continuity of care.

• Train police officers in empathetic and effective mental health crisis management techniques, aiming to de-escalate potential threats and minimize the use of force.

• Provide immediate, short-term crisis counseling for non-violent patients experiencing mental health episodes, utilizing proven techniques and therapeutic interventions.

• Accompany law enforcement on mental health response calls, bringing expertise to navigate these critical situations.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Qualifications\n

• Current license as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California.
