Part-Time Bookkeeper (Temporary)

POSITION OVERVIEW Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Part-Time Temporary Bookkeeper for a small professional services organization supporting business accounting and bookkeeping needs. This is a temporary, part-time position based in New York, NY, working approximately 20 hours per week. The role will initially require two full days per week onsite, with increased remote flexibility once the selected candidate is comfortable and established in the position. The Part-Time Bookkeeper will provide hands‑on support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general bookkeeping while helping organize and resolve existing accounting matters. PERKS Competitive pay of $27–$29 per hour, depending on experience Flexible part‑time schedule of approximately 20 hours per week Increased remote flexibility once established in the role Flexible weekday scheduling within normal business hours Initial 4‑week assignment with the potential for extension RESPONSIBILITIES Manage day‑to‑day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including addressing existing AP items requiring cleanup Support payroll processing and maintain accurate, organized bookkeeping records Process payments and proactively resolve outstanding accounting matters Communicate directly with vendors, mortgage companies, and other outside parties as needed to resolve issues Independently identify priorities, troubleshoot bookkeeping issues, and follow matters through to resolution Learn and effectively navigate the organization’s cloud‑based ERP system QUALIFICATIONS Hands‑on bookkeeping experience with strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll Experience using ERP or accounting systems with the technical aptitude to quickly learn new platforms Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and manage responsibilities with limited day‑to‑day supervision Strong organizational, problem‑solving, communication, and attention‑to‑detail skills Dependable and resourceful with a strong sense of ownership and follow‑through COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This temporary position offers an hourly pay rate of $27–$29 per hour, depending on experience. The role is expected to work approximately 20 hours per week for an initial 4‑week assignment, with the potential for extension.
