Job Description Job Description ** Accounts Payable Specialist – Nonprofit ** ** Nonprofit Organization | NYC Area ** ** $55,000 - $60,000 annually | $25.00 - $30.00 per hour ** Temporary, Temp-to-Hire & Direct Hire Opportunities Available ** The Cyperus Group **, a New York City staffing agency specializing in Accounting, Finance, Administrative, and Legal recruiting, is partnering with a well-established nonprofit organization seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist . This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment. We are seeking individuals who thrive in a collaborative setting and have a strong understanding of accounts payable processes. ** Responsibilities ** Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and timely. Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation. Review and verify invoices for proper approvals and coding. Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers. Maintain vendor files and respond to vendor inquiries. Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies. Assist with month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and accruals. Ensure expenses are charged to the appropriate grants, programs, and department budgets when applicable. Monitor compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements. Assist with annual audits by providing supporting documentation. Maintain accurate records and filing systems. Collaborate with accounting and finance team members on special projects and process improvements. ** Qualifications ** Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience. Experience working in a nonprofit organization is a plus. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. ** Compensation & Benefits ** Salary range: $55,000 - $60,000 Hourly equivalent: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Opportunities available on a temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire basis.
