A well-established law firm with a national presence is seeking a  Legal Billing Specialist to join its accounting team. This role is ideal for someone with prior law firm experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of legal billing processes and systems. The Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and processing client invoices, supporting billing operations, and assisting with trust accounting functions while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and generate client invoices in accordance with firm billing procedures
• Support bi-monthly billing cycles, including time review, edits, and proforma processing
• Manage assigned billing portfolios, including handling client-specific requirements and exceptions
• Process and manage electronic billing submissions (e-billing platforms)
• Generate customized billing reports as requested by attorneys and clients
• Assist with trust/retainer account activity, including deposits and disbursements
• Respond to billing inquiries from attorneys, staff, and clients in a timely manner
• Provide backup support for cash applications and deposit processing
• Maintain accurate billing records in accordance with firm policies and procedures
• Assist with additional accounting and billing projects as needed

Qualifications

• Required: Prior billing experience in a law firm environment
• Required: Experience using 3E (Elite) billing software
• Strong understanding of legal billing processes, including e-billing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Strong data entry skills and high level of accuracy
• Solid numerical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to operate a 10-key by touch preferred
• Typing speed of approximately 45 wpm or higher
• High school diploma or equivalent required
