Job Title: Machine Operator (Rolling Mill / Slitter) Job Description

This role operates heavy industrial equipment in a metal processing environment, primarily focusing on rolling mill and slitter machines. You will load and position metal sheets and coils, use an overhead crane and forklift to move materials, and ensure aluminum products are processed to precise specifications. The position follows a rotating 2-2-3 schedule on 12-hour shifts, alternating between days and nights.

• Operate rolling mill equipment to process metal sheets and coils, ensuring materials are rolled to the required thickness and quality standards.
• Load and accurately position sheets and coils into the rolling machine using an overhead crane, following all safety and operational procedures.
• Operate slitter machines to cut aluminum to exact specifications, maintaining precision and consistency throughout the production run.
• Use an overhead crane to safely move aluminum and other metal products to and from machines, storage areas, and workstations.
• Utilize a forklift to transport materials and finished products within the facility as needed.
• Monitor equipment performance during operation, identify basic issues, and report any malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
• Follow established work instructions, production schedules, and quality control procedures to meet output and specification requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around machines, cranes, and material staging zones to support safe and efficient operations.
• Participate in the onboarding and training schedule, including orientation sessions and hands-on training on day shift.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when working with hot materials, heavy equipment, and moving machinery.

• Proven experience operating overhead cranes in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on machine operator experience, preferably with large production or processing equipment.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks in a heavy industrial setting, including material handling and equipment support.
• Experience working with metals is highly beneficial, particularly in rolling or cutting operations.
• Basic forklift operating experience in a warehouse or production environment.
• Capability to work rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule, including both day and night shifts.
• Strong attention to safety when operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and heavy machinery.

• Comfort working in a hot, heavy industrial environment around metal processing equipment.
• Willingness to be assigned to the department that best matches skills and interests following a facility tour.
• Ability to learn and adapt to different machines and processes within the rolling mill and slitting operations.
• Reliability in following structured onboarding and training schedules, including extended day-shift training.
• Strong work ethic and readiness to perform physically demanding tasks over 12-hour shifts.

The role is based in a heavy industrial facility focused on metal processing, including rolling and slitting aluminum and other metals. You will work around large machinery, overhead cranes, and forklifts, frequently handling hot materials and heavy loads. The schedule follows a rotating 2-2-3 pattern with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., then rotating to 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. after 28 days. The first week includes structured orientation and onboarding on Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by training on day shift Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and then transition to the regular rotating shift from Thursday onward. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment suitable for working with hot materials, heavy machinery, and moving equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Saint Louis,MO.
