Senior Accountant

Title: Senior Accountant, Revenue Company: [Biotech / Life Sciences] Compensation: $90,000-$110,000 (DOE) Location: Carlsbad, CA (onsite 3 days/week) Job Summary: Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This role is responsible for managing revenue-related accounting activities across R&D and commercial operations in a growing, fully integrated biotech organization. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Accounting, Revenue and supports key accounting initiatives, compliance, and financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Prepare journal entries and maintain revenue schedules for R&D, collaboration, and commercial activities • Issue invoices in accordance with contractual terms and manage accounts receivable • Stay up to date on revenue accounting guidance, performing technical research and analysis as needed • Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities, including account reconciliations • Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX 404 requirements • Prepare audit deliverables and liaise with internal and external auditors • Drive process and system improvements related to revenue accounting • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred • 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience (Big 4 or mid-tier firm) or experience at a public biotech / life sciences company preferred • Strong knowledge of ASC 606, US GAAP, and SOX controls • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP or Blackline • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills • Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, structured environment Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
