RN Med/Surg

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive medical and surgical nursing care primarily to adult patients, with occasional pediatric cases, in a dynamic Med/Surg unit located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. The RN will coordinate exceptional patient care, utilizing the Nursing Process to address the holistic needs of patients, including physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental aspects. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and accountability to nursing leadership to deliver compassionate and proficient care in a rural critical access hospital setting. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to adult and occasional pediatric patients in medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, and swing bed settings.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and ongoing monitoring.
• Utilize the Nursing Process to make critical clinical decisions tailored to individual patient needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor to ensure quality patient care.
• Address patients' holistic needs including physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental considerations.
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

• Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont or multi-state licensure.
• Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience.
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience with Meditech electronic health record system.
• Previous experience working in a rural or critical access hospital environment.

• Position is based in a rural community with no public transportation or rideshare services; reliable personal transportation is essential.
• Occasional pediatric patients may be cared for, but this is not a pediatric-only unit.
• Collaboration with nursing leadership during shifts is required.
• Housing resources are available but securing housing is the candidate's responsibility.

• Day shift schedule primarily.
• Shift assignments based on unit needs and patient census.
