RN Emergency Department

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at a Level II Trauma Center is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients with acute medical conditions including trauma, pediatrics, STEMI, and stroke cases. The role requires skilled clinical assessment, timely interventions, and effective collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced emergency environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to emergency patients including trauma, pediatric, STEMI, and stroke cases.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatments.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and per protocol.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient information accurately using EPIC charting system.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide life-saving interventions.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and trauma center protocols.
• Participate in ongoing education and maintain certifications related to emergency nursing care.

• Current Registered Nurse license in California.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience at a Level II trauma center or higher.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification.

• Work environment includes a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center with 49 beds and 4:1 patient ratios maximum.
• Must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-stress emergency setting.
• Compliance with trauma center and Joint Commission standards is mandatory.

• Varied shift schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned to meet department needs.
