RN MedSurg PCU Nights

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse for the VT-MedSurg / PCU night shift provides skilled nursing care primarily on the Progressive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry units. This role requires independent work and the ability to perform charge nurse duties. The nurse will also float to other units such as the Emergency Department and Mother/Child Health as needed. The position demands strong clinical skills, effective communication, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care in a critical access hospital setting. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients on PCU, MedSurg, and Telemetry units during night shifts.
• Perform charge nurse duties, including oversight and coordination of nursing activities on the unit.
• Conduct patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to other units such as Emergency Department and Mother/Child Health when required.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in medical records.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Vermont.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if required.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in Progressive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Emergency Department, or Mother/Child Health units.
• Charge nurse experience.
• Experience working in a critical access hospital environment.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work independently and perform charge nurse responsibilities.
• Floating to other units such as ED and MCH is required based on need.
• Work in a 25-bed critical access hospital setting.
• Every other weekend rotation is required.

• Night shift schedule.
• Includes every other weekend rotation.
• Shift assignments may include floating to other units as needed.
