About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day or Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS certifications required Must-Have: Strong skills in IV starts, telemetry, and conscious sedation Must have EPIC experience Description: Provide high-quality care for patients in a lower acuity cardiac unit. Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Float to units of similar or lower acuity as needed. Patient ratio is 1:3-4. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. The unit handles a mixture of inpatient populations, primarily general cardiology with a focus on electrophysiology and some open heart surgery overflow. Common patient diagnoses include arrhythmias, syncope, chest pain, congestive heart failure, endocarditis, lung transplant readmissions, CABG, and valve repair. Special procedures may include pacemaker placement, arrhythmia ablation, cardioversions, cardiac catheterizations, and sheath management.
