Thundering Paws has operated a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) cat rescue since 2001. Our mission is to reduce the suffering of cats who are homeless, neglected, injured, or abused. To achieve this, we focus on: TNVR to stabilize outdoor cat populations Foster and adoption of healthy, socialized cats Rehabilitation of the ill, injured, or abused Sanctuary for the neediest Our paid staff and volunteers work hard to care for our animals and maintain our buildings. Our board is charged with assuring that they get the support they need to help us fulfill our mission. Volunteer Description and Details Service on the Thundering Paws board is an opportunity to strengthen the organization, improve the lives of its cats (and people!), and the Dripping Springs and Greater Austin community. Board members are expected to attend and engage in monthly online meetings; attend a yearly in-person strategic planning meeting; and apply their unique skills and expertise —serving as advocates and ambassadors for Thundering Paws. We especially need board members who can identify and secure the financial resources and partnerships needed for Thundering Paws to meet its goals. Who We’re Looking For Potential board members must be: Ready to jump in and get involved in fundraising, partnerships, fiscal responsibility, and community relations development Someone who enjoys working with people and can meet them where they are Willing to contribute time and effort to help Thundering Paws achieve its goals Able to give and receive honest, constructive feedback, and have a sense of humor Problem-solvers, who enjoy finding creative solutions What we’d love Expertise in fundraising, development, or grant‑writing Professional experience in one or more of these fields: public relations, law, banking or financial planning, project organization, non-profit leadership Experience and joy in creative problem-solving Fluency in technology and social media engagement Job Type: Part-time Work Location: Must live in the Greater Austin Area and be available to attend on site annual strategic planning session.
