Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year required; 2 years preferred License: Michigan RN License (pending license okay, must provide estimated time of arrival) Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Must be willing to work with a variety of staff (e.g., RN, LPN, Techs). - Must be available for the first two weeks of assignment. - Must float to other Medical Surgical units. - Must work every other weekend. Description: This position involves care for a wide variety of patient types. Patients may include those with general medical diagnoses. The role involves caring for surgical patients specializing in gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries. Nurses will float to different Medical Surgical units as needed. Expect a staffing ratio of 1:5-6 for nights. There may be times when the ratio flexes to 8 patients, with support from an LPN. This unit sees a good mix of medical patients, with a focus on specific specialties. These specialties include orthopedic/neurovascular, cardiopulmonary, and surgical patients. Surgical patients may include those undergoing gastrointestinal, urological, hysterectomies, and mastectomies. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and rapid response teams. The role requires collaboration with a variety of staff members. The nurse will also be required to float depending on unit needs. Background checks will be performed prior to hiring. Proof of flu vaccination is required. Medical exemptions for flu vaccination will be considered.
