About the Role

Float pool nurses occupy a distinctive role, moving between various assignments to support different units within the hospital. They possess advanced critical thinking abilities, extensive clinical knowledge, and the capacity to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

  • Strong communication and collaboration among all hospital staff.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Director, Manager, or Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and delivers patient care, taking individual responsibility and accountability for nursing services.
  • The RN provides care in alignment with hospital policies, state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and both generic and unit-specific standards.
Qualifications
  • BSN is preferred.
  • A current RN license in the state of Missouri is required. If only a multistate RN license is provided upon hiring, a Missouri RN license must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • BLS certification is required at the time of hire and must be maintained.
  • ACLS certification is required within six months.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification is required within 90 days of hire and must be renewed annually.
  • Documentation of at least eight (8) hours of cerebrovascular (stroke) related continuing nursing education is required each fiscal year.
  • Credentialing in trauma care (TNCC) must be completed within six months of assignment, with a minimum of eight (8) hours of trauma-related continuing nursing education required annually.
  • 1-2 years of prior experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a facility of similar size with comparable services is preferred.
  • Previous experience in emergency, pre-hospital, or critical care settings is preferred.

Our facility is an 80+ bed full-service hospital serving Lee’s Summit and its surrounding areas. We are supported by over 300 physicians across more than 40 specialties and employ over 500 highly skilled staff members along with 60 volunteers. Our services encompass cardiology, cancer care, endoscopy, emergency services, imaging, neurology, pain management, and pulmonology. We also provide physical therapy, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, sports medicine, respiratory care, women’s health, and a variety of surgical services. Our hospital is recognized as a dually-accredited Chest Pain and Primary Stroke Center, with a dedicated team ready to serve our community. We are affiliated with a leading healthcare network.
