Join Our Team as a Full-Time Pharmacy Technician!UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to work in our inpatient pharmacy at the main hospital in Lawrenceville. The Pharmacy Technician provides pharmaceutical care to our patients by assisting with the sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, medication filling, and medication distribution.Title and rate of pay will be based on education and experience. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is available to eligible candidates in exchange of a 2-year work commitment with UPMC.Primary Responsibilities:Filling: Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting and stocking practices. Initial and date products as requiredAssist in the preparation of the proper oral and injectable medications (including intravenous admixtures and TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) for the correct patient for administration at the appropriate time.Use proper technique in the preparation of medications.Consistently has the ability to work in the Sterile Product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs (e.g. chemotherapy) using proper aseptic technique.Distribution: Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return (and credits if necessary) them to the appropriate pharmacy area.Develop and maintain positive and productive service relationships during medication distribution process.Investigational: Assist in the procurement, accountability, storage, preparation and distribution of investigational and study drugs.General: Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors, referring all drug inquiries to pharmacists.Ensure safe storage, handling and dispensing of medications in compliance with federal / state regulations.Maintain accurate patient records, documentation logs, and controlled substance audits.Manage inventory across stock rooms, automated dispensing systems, crash carts and emergency boxes.Assist with training new personnel and students.Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following: Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician programSix months of previous pharmacy technician experienceSix months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health SystemEnrollment in a college program and in good standingLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:PA State Board of Pharmacy Registration required for all PA locationsIf an individual has a Pharmacy Intern license, they do not need to register with the State of PAAct 31/33/34/73 clearances with renewalUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
