Paralegal – Toxic Tort & Product Liability

New York, NY (Midtown Manhattan) | Full-Time | Hybrid

Locks Law Firm represents individuals and families affected by serious and rare cancers caused by exposure to petroleum-based chemicals and other toxic substances. Our cases turn on details buried in decades-old employment records, product formulations, and corporate documents, as well as developing science in occupational health and toxicology.

\n

\n

We're looking for a paralegal to join our New York office, where you'll work one-on-one with a litigator handling complex toxic-exposure cases and other civil actions. This is a small office, not a large paralegal team, so you will not be siloed into a single narrow task. You'll be involved in cases from the initial investigation through trial preparation, and your work will directly shape case outcomes. You'll also have the support of our main office in Philadelphia, where other paralegals, attorneys, and administrative staff are based.

What you'll do:

\n

\n
• Investigate cases: research companies, products, workplaces, and sources of exposure; identify and locate witnesses.
\n
• Build the factual record: review medical, employment, corporate, and product records, and develop chronologies of a client's work history, product use, exposure, and treatment.
\n
• Support litigation: draft correspondence, discovery, subpoenas, and authorizations; prepare materials for depositions, hearings, and motions.
\n
• Prepare for trial: assemble exhibits, timelines, witness materials, and document collections.
\n
• Keep cases moving: maintain organized electronic files, track deadlines, and own your projects from start to finish.

What we're looking for:

\n

\n
• Clear writing and communication skills.
\n
• Experience as a paralegal, litigation assistant, investigator, researcher, or in a comparable role. Personal injury, toxic tort, or plaintiff-side experience is a plus but not required for an exceptional candidate.
\n
• The ability to work through large volumes of information and pick out what matters.
\n
• The judgment to notice when something doesn't add up, and the initiative to find out why.
\n
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters at once.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document-management systems.
\n

• Salary of $60,000 to $85,000 depending on experience
