Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in American Sign Language Department Overview [Department website] Position Summary We seek qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses in American Sign Language or other classes identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students. Instructional Responsibilities Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed in the Academic Policy Manual. Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to collective bargaining agreement provisions for order of assignment. New lecturer appointees are assigned after tenure‑line faculty. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. California State University, Fresno does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas. Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = **** for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for temporary faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,*****,677 per month when teaching full‑time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Appointments are typically made just prior to the start of each term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains for two academic terms; to remain beyond that, candidates must reapply. Fall **** : August 19, **** – December 22, ****; Spring **** : January 15, **** – May 26, **** Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Sign Language Education or closely related field with ASLTA Certification. Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations. Minimum of 3 years teaching American Sign Language and ASLTA Certification. Application Procedures Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as positions open.
