The California State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Information Technology is currently hiring for an Information Technology Specialist II within the Server Operations Unit. This role is located at 1001 I Street, 8th Floor, Sacramento, in the heart of downtown, conveniently situated near the light rail stations and many other public transportation options. Additionally, this position currently offers the flexibility of a Hybrid Teleworking option.

Working Conditions
Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position and might be expected to comply with after July 1, 2026.
In accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and GC 14200, the successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Proof of residency may be required.
Salary Information - CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience. E mployees appointed to the Attorney or Water Resource Control Engineer classification will receive Recruitment Higher Above Minimum (HAM) rate in accordance with the approved

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience in advanced level Linux Server Administration.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of, and experience with, industry-level technology hardware, software, and practices.
- Possess expertise in the following disciplines: technology operational practices and processes; server virtualization technologies; Linux server system administration, Linux server upgrade processes, and data storage technologies.
- Proficient in Azure and AWS Cloud services and administration, documenting technical procedures, Linux server security, and server disaster recovery processes and procedures.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities; skills essential for contributing to complex technological initiatives.
- Ability to network and interact effectively with management, technical and nontechnical personnel across many departments. While administration and hands-on usage of New Relic, SolarWinds, VMWare, NSX, or NSX-T software tools are not mandatory, they are considered valuable experiences.
- Technical disaster recovery experience is highly desirable.
- Experience With Red Hat Ansible.
- Windows Server Experience.
- Experience With Red Hat Linux.
- Experience With Ubuntu Linux.
- Experience in CA Certificate lifecycle and applying SSL Certificate.
- Experience mentoring staff in a technical environment.
