Role Description The Associate Attorney will work full time on-site in Albuquerque, NM, supporting the firm’s complex civil litigation and construction practice. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence, and assisting in discovery, including document review, written discovery, and depositions. The role involves participating in case strategy development, preparing for and attending hearings, trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings under the supervision of senior attorneys. The Associate Attorney will communicate with clients, provide preliminary legal advice, help evaluate risk, and contribute to negotiation and dispute-resolution efforts. The position also includes collaborating with colleagues, maintaining organized case files, and managing deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. Qualifications Strong foundation in Law, with the ability to analyze complex civil matters and apply relevant statutes, regulations, and case law. Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law sufficient to assist with employment-related disputes and compliance issues. Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients under supervision, with sound judgment and client-focused communication. Excellent Research skills, including proficiency in legal research platforms and drafting well-supported memoranda and filings. Negotiation skills to support settlement discussions, mediations, and other dispute-resolution processes. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership, or eligibility for membership, in the New Mexico Bar. Prior litigation experience, such as clerkships, internships, or associate work in civil litigation, is preferred. Strong written and oral advocacy skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
