Part-Time Personal/Family Assistant Wanted Location: Upper East Side, Manhattan Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours/week, with schedule flexibility Compensation: $25-$35/hour, depending on experience Start date: Some training available now; role begins officially mid-September. About the Role A semi-retired couple (a writer/coach and an attorney) currently living in New York to manage a health challenge, is looking for a part-time personal assistant. This is primarily an in-person role with some remote hours. Driving is not required. We're looking for someone reliable, organized, resourceful, and discreet - comfortable moving between practical household tasks, light hands-on support, and some administrative/business help. Responsibilities Household Grocery shopping and errands Ordering household items as needed Interacting with building staff Occasional very light housekeeping (running the dishwasher, switching laundry - we have a weekly cleaner for everything else) Neither one of the couple is able to lift heavy things and help with that is appreciated but not required. An interest in food, nutrition or cooking is appreciated. Health-Related Support Accompany patient to medical appointments as needed Assist with light medical duties such as organizing medications or picking up prescriptions Assist with nourishment on chemo and post chemo days (every 14 days), such as making or buying a smoothie, tea, picking up food. No actual "medical care" or hands on care needed. Patient is very independent. Pet Care Dog walks as needed. Ordering pet food as needed (usually on autoship but needs to be checked) Giving dog medicine Accompanying a family member to vet appointments Note: Dog is a lovely but occasionally stubborn older good-sized Shepherd. Household & Travel Logistics Track and manage needs for our primary home across the country (e.g., checking on landscapers, making sure visitors have a key etc.) Help with travel planning - booking flights, canceling reservations, researching options, etc. Research & Business Support Research resources such as the best sources for organic groceries, holistic treatment options, insurance coverage, etc. Light business assistance: bill payments, returning emails, and similar tasks Qualifications English speaker required Light cooking ability a major plus Prior experience as a personal or family assistant preferred Excellent organizational skills and follow-through Trustworthy, discreet, and comfortable in a home setting Resourceful - comfortable researching and comparing options References required Confidentiality is essential - this role involves sensitive personal and health-related information, and discretion is required at all times Important Note Our family is diverse and proudly inclusive - our adult children and partners include people of different cultures and orientations.
