Salary: $55,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience About the Opportunity A well-established and growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join its team in Springfield, Illinois. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting employees and management with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a high level of confidentiality, and experience managing payroll or other financial processes in a fast-paced environment. - Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy
- Review timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies
- Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as needed
- Coordinate with management teams regarding employee changes and payroll updates
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and benefits
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience preferred
- Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred
