2027 Future Talent Program - Standardizing Automation Scripting Practices Through AI-Enabled Knowledge Repository - Intern

A 12-week internship in Merck's Research and Development division focused on developing an AI-enabled knowledge repository to standardize laboratory automation scripting practices. The intern will collaborate with robotics and data science teams across multiple research sites to improve automation documentation, troubleshooting, and workflow consistency.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing automation scripts and documentation to identify development and troubleshooting patterns
- Develop and evaluate AI-enabled knowledge repository supporting automation script understanding and troubleshooting
- Integrate GitHub repositories and automation records into centralized knowledge platform
- Create technical documentation, standardized best practices, and user guidance for automation workflows
- Prepare technical summaries and present project outcomes at intern symposium
Requirements
- Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Informatics, Biotechnology, Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong Python and SQL programming skills for script and application development
- Working knowledge of C# or C/C++ from coursework, projects, or internships
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub, or version control systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
Compensation: $39,108–$111,111
