Executive Assistant

At CASPER MEHLOS LAW GROUP , the Executive Assistant position is a position with the primary objectives of collaborating with the firm's owner on implementing cutting-edge business and litigation strategies; managing a fast-paced business and litigation practice, primarily in the area of criminal defense with some civil litigation; attending business growth meetings and assisting with strategy implementation as needed; assisting with e-mail management and scheduling, including the logistics of court scheduling and trip planning; overseeing accounts payable and/or accounts receivable; collaborating with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as applicable to manage the firm’s finances; assisting with managerial functions such as payroll and benefits; implementing litigation strategies; and depending on interest and skill set, researching and drafting motions in criminal cases ranging from homicide to misdemeanor criminal cases and in some civil litigation including large commercial litigation, medical malpractice , and personal injury cases. 

We are a criminal defense and personal injury law firm located in Madison with a statewide practice in state and federal courts, seeking a highly motivated Executive Assistant who thrives with attention  - to - detail and collaborative problem - solving in our growth-focused culture. We handle complex criminal and civil litigation ranging from homicide cases to drunk driving defense as well as complex civil litigation. Our practice focus is criminal defense.

Candidates must have excellent critical thinking, organization, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work independently and professionally at all levels in the organization. Skills utilizing technology and communicating in Spanish are preferred but not required.

Position Responsibilities:

The Executive Assistant is responsible for : working with the owner to implement business and litigation strategies; collaborating with the CFO as needed to manage the firm’s finances; communicating with potential and existing clients; collaborating with our attorneys to implement of our litigation strategy; coordinat ing e litigation deadlines and assist with attorney schedules; managing payroll and benefits; and  to  collaborat ing e to implement our firm's strategic vision for improving our systems across the firm to capture efficiencies. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Collaborate with attorneys on litigation and business strategies and  cordinate work with legal assistants to implement the strategies, including drafting discovery requests, analyzing evidence, and organizing motion and trial preparation materials to advance strategic litigation goals;

2. Collaborate with owner to manage emails for client communication and court scheduling;

3. Research and draft pleadings and motions for civil and criminal cases as applicable;

4. Collaborate with leadership team to re-evaluate the firm's systems to increase efficiencies and analyze case metrics to optimize performance;

5. Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable and collaborate with CFO to manage finances; and 

6. Perform other tasks based on capability and need.

Compensation Package:

1. Competitive base salary calculated based on experience and market standards;

2. Highly competitive bonus structure;

6. Option for working remotely part-time for the right candidate.
