About the Program: The B.A. in Music offers a student‑centered educational experience grounded in individualized attention, close faculty mentorship, and high expectations for artistic and academic growth. The program provides comprehensive training in musicianship, private instruction, recital repertory, and diverse ensemble experiences that support students’ development as musicians and performers. Through a broad and evolving curriculum, students develop the creative, collaborative, critical, and professional skills needed to pursue a range of pathways in music and the arts. The Music faculty are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that prepares students to engage meaningfully with the changing landscape of music in the twenty‑first century. About the Position: The Music Program is seeking an instructor to teach coursework in digital audio recording, editing, and production. The successful candidate will provide students with hands‑on instruction in current industry‑standard applications and technologies. Areas of instruction include analog and digital audio recording systems, recording workflows and their component technologies, digital audio editing and effects, and synchronized sound and audio production for visual media. The instructor will support students in developing both the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to work effectively with contemporary recording and production tools. The ability to provide private instruction in one or more instruments and/or voice is also highly desirable. Candidates with experience teaching applied music lessons across a range of instruments or vocal areas may have opportunities to contribute additional instruction based on program needs, student demand, and the candidate’s areas of expertise. Minimum Degree Requirements: B.A. in Music or Sound Design or a closely related field from an accredited institution, and significant related professional experience. Required Qualifications: Availability to teach the days and times and in the modality (face‑to‑face or online synchronous and/or online asynchronous) indicated in the Schedule of Classes for the upcoming semester, or assigned for future semesters by the Chair of Dance, Music, and Theatre. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success. Preferred Qualifications: M.A., Ph.D., or other terminal degree, or a closely related field. Significant professional experience in a relevant field. Experience teaching with Canvas. Demonstrated culturally‑relevant, –responsive, and –sustaining pedagogy and/or artistic practices, through syllabi, lesson plans, course design, performance archive, and/or interactions with students, faculty, staff, audience, and/or community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities, ethnicities, socio‑economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and/or educational experiences. Responsibilities: Teach one or more of the Music Course sections listed above, face‑to‑face, synchronous online, and/or asynchronous online as scheduled in a given semester. Final teaching assignment(s) and modalities, as well as additional opportunities to teach the same other MUSIC prefix courses in future semesters, depend on qualifications, budget, enrollment, and program needs. Use subject‑matter expertise to impart knowledge and critical thinking skills to students Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in field of practice Design syllabus and curriculum as assigned Communicate expectations to students Prepare and deliver course materials Evaluate student learning and growth and assign grades Design interactive and motivational activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning Update course materials periodically, and regularly monitor course evaluations in order to make adjustments and improvements to the curriculum Respond to student needs and questions Create an environment in which students of diverse backgrounds are motivated to succeed Apply technology and leverage resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum (e.g. use Canvas #J-18808-Ljbffr CSU
