TEMPORARY Positions 2026 - Ridgway State Park

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $18.00-$19.50 PER HOUR EMPLOYMENT STARTS Flexible but as soon as April/May 2026 THROUGH September/October 2026. This announcement will remain open until FILLED. Maintenance Specific duties include but are not limited to general park maintenance. The position maintains and upkeeps park facilities by cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting, emptying trash, and power washing park buildings and facilities. Equipment such as pressure washers, hand tools, small power tools, shop vacs, vacuums, park vehicles, and other equipment is used daily. Personal protective equipment is required. The role involves daily interaction with park visitors, requiring effective communication and public relations skills. Additional duties include maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds as assigned. ANS Boat Inspector Inspect all incoming and outgoing boats for Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS). Duties include contacting boaters and physically and visually inspecting boats and associated equipment. Training follows statewide procedures. Visitor Center/Entrance Attendant Position at Visitor Center or one of the three Entrance Stations. Requires substantial public contact, excellent customer service, computer, and communication skills. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering phone calls, providing information on park facilities and procedures, verifying and selling park passes, boat and OHV registrations, hunting and fishing licenses, selling and stocking merchandise, updating bulletin boards, creating flyers, brochures, newsletters, and performing general clerical duties. Marina Concessions Oversee rental boat and equipment management, seasonal and short-term marina rental space, and concession sales. Specific duties include customer check-in/out, inspecting and instructing on rental equipment use, safety, and terms; fueling boats and cleaning rental equipment. Operations involve managing communication, contracts, and scheduling with customers via computers and phones to promote a safe boating experience. Concession sales require computers, cash registers, handling money, balancing sales, and completing required paperwork. Light maintenance of concession and rental dock areas is expected. Daily interaction with visitors includes greeting customers, providing information, and selling passes and fishing licenses. Naturalist Research, plan, advertise, and present educational and interpretive programs, including youth outings, school field trips, archery, fishing programs, campfire talks, and guided hikes. Responsibilities also include coordinating and scheduling guest speakers and volunteer naturalists, promoting program attendance, roving interpretation, community outreach events, maintaining interpretive displays and bulletin boards, and assisting with planning, organizing, advertising, and facilitating special events such as Lake Appreciation Day. Work closely with volunteers and park staff, and correspond with natural resource professionals to build upon existing programs and partnerships. Attend agency-sponsored training and receive role-specific training upon hire. Physical Requirements All positions require lifting 50 lbs. or more, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and bending in different positions. ANS and Marina roles additionally require climbing onto/into trailered boats, crawling, and handling equipment as described. Qualifications Must have reliable transportation to and from work. A background screening may be required for placement in this position. Applicants may be disqualified based on some felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. Strong customer service and communication skills required. Must be enthusiastic, organized, and self‑motivated. Must be able to perform, or with reasonable accommodation, the physical requirements as listed above. Able and willing to do data entry on tablets and computers. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts. Willing to work outside and in inclement weather. Upon hire, attend and successfully complete required boat inspector training. Supply and work in appropriate uniform as directed by policy. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be at 16 years old or older.
