Job Overview Temporary position (6 months or less) $18.00/hour. Employment starts March–May through September–October. The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state’s natural resources. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) works to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, preserve the state parks system, and provide sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities. Paonia State Park is nestled at an elevation of 6,500 feet beneath the majestic Ragged Mountains, offering a picturesque alpine escape for camping, picnicking, and outdoor photography. Visitors can immerse themselves in spectacular mountain scenery within the Gunnison National Forest. Responsibilities ANS Boat Inspection Technician Staff the park ANS inspection station. Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews. Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distribute brochures, promote ANS education, educate about State Park regulations). Perform cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas, including maintenance of facilities and grounds. Accurately count and record all boat inspections. Copy and file documents. Document and report visitor complaints. Perform other duties as assigned. Park Maintenance Technician Assure quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness. Provide information and assistance to visitors. Operate and perform routine maintenance on state‑owned vehicles and equipment. Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies. Perform other duties as assigned. Administrative Responsibilities Assure quality customer service. Provide information and assistance to visitors. Handle revenues from sales in the Visitor Center. Use computer programs to sell passes and campsites. Answer phones and drive‑up window. Clean Visitor Center. Assist park staff with projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Details This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to nine months in duration. School schedules may be accommodated. Housing may be available. For questions, email View email address on click.appcast.io Qualifications & Requirements Must be at least 16 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be willing to work outside during hot and inclement weather. Must be able to climb in and out of boats repeatedly for ANS inspections. Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday. First Aid and CPR certifications may be required. Background check may be required. Pursuant to the DNR‑120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a state‑owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any state‑owned vehicle. To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who: Have an assigned state fleet vehicle. Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position. Utilize a state fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle. Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
