# Job Opportunity – Pediatric Critical Care Nurse – Virginia Start Date: October 2026 Location: Charlottesville, Virginia Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 13-week assignment, 36 or 48 hours per week, rotating shifts including every other weekend (3 weekends per 6-week schedule). Required to work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs. Highlights: - Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care unit serving neonates through adolescents with high census and high acuity- Diverse patient mix including congenital heart disease/repair (DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood, TGA, heart transplant), trauma, DKA, post-operative cases, and organ transplant patients- Advanced technology experience including ECMO, VADs, and CRRT- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation support- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity; 25-bed unit with daily census of 23- Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during contract (cannot be taken during first 2 weeks) Requirements: - Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric critical care experience; PICU or Pediatric CVICU experience required- Active Virginia RN license or ability to obtain (license pending accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)- Current BLS and PALS certifications required- Epic EMR experience required- Demonstrated competency in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line management, central line care, chest tube management, and critical pediatric skills- Pediatric cardiac experience strongly preferred- Trauma Level I experience preferred- BSN preferred Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers the chance to work with a comprehensive range of pediatric critical care patients in a fast-paced environment supported by interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services.
