Make a significant impact supporting students by joining a dynamic school environment as a dedicated Social Worker. This contract position offers a meaningful opportunity to work with students and educators, primarily covering a maternity leave expected from January through April—with the possibility of extension through June—and provides up to 40 hours each week.
You’ll play a vital role in nurturing students’ wellbeing and academic progress. The position prioritizes onsite involvement but remains open to virtual options for the right candidate. Applicants must have a valid school social work certification, which can be verified using the official Michigan educator credential search.
Key Qualifications:
- State of Michigan School Social Work certification (full certification required)
- Experience collaborating in school settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to develop and implement effective support plans for students
- Familiarity with multi-disciplinary teams and student advocacy
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support to K-12 students
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate services
- Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and families
- Develop intervention plans to promote academic and social success
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings
- Serve as a resource for crisis intervention and mental health referrals
