Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) - Neurointensive ICU-FP

Summary A Nurse Practitioner functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical – obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes pharmacological agents, schedules follow‑up, conducts preventive screening, maintains records, and improves patient care through evidence‑based initiatives. Education – appropriately educates clients and families regarding conditions and treatment, collaborates with clinicians and staff to promote continuity of care, develops educational materials, provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, and students, and participates in learning programs. Leadership – provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, and students through precepting, shadowing, lectures, training, CE, rounds, and staff meetings; participates in community and network outreach; leads systems improvement initiatives. Professional – interacts with patients and families respectfully and timely, collaborates with coworkers, resolves problems promptly, accepts responsibility for outcomes, and shares workload with the team. Quality/Research – engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates and revises protocols, influences policy, and develops new clinical programs to improve patient care. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
