The Role Junior Sous Chef – Are you the inspirational leader ready to create from conception to execution compelling signature meals and catering that will become the beacon for change in the way Chicagoland eats? You and your Food Service team will create memorable experiences through exceptional flavors and presentation of Dom’s Kitchen & Market’s unique offerings! As the Junior Sous Chef you will lead Dom’s Kitchen & Market dynamic Food Service team dedicated to delivering Talk of the Town Guest Service! Responsibilities Measured and rewarded by your ability to deliver Talk of the Town Guest Service, drive optimal Food Service team’s performance, maintain FRESH operations and achieve financial targets Accountable for the extraordinary experience of your team and your guests Responsible for engaging conversations with guests and ensure each guest receives an extraordinary Talk of the Town guest experience Focused on driving sales through technical expertise, industry knowledge and innovative merchandising Expected to successfully train, develop, retain, mentor and motivate Dom’s Kitchen & Market first-class Food Service team leading to inspired teamwork creating an inviting atmosphere for guests Assist with work duties across Food Service including cross‑training of team members Challenge Food Service team daily to provide world class FRESH conditions and presentations including consistent Food Prep, recipes followed, quality, in‑stock, in‑code, product rotation and temperature checks Accountable for scheduling the Food Service team for maximum productivity and high standards of quality aligning to business needs and budgeted labor goals Lead appropriate Food Service sales forecasting, planning, ordering, sales floor inventory levels Ensure food production is executed, food prep is consistent and technically accurate within budgeted ingredient cost goals, institute controls to minimize food and supply waste, implement repurposing of food waste Responsible for receiving of product, invoice accuracy, vendor commitments, vendor backstock Accountable for backroom, cooler and freezer logistics including minimal inventory levels, freshness dates and organization of product and supplies Maintain high standards of Food Safety and Sanitation at all times throughout the Food Service sales floor, cooler, freezer and backroom including regular cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tables, cases and shelves with organization and sanitation of all backrooms, food prep areas and supplies Listening for the Voice of the Guest to identify Food Service trends for guest needs and expectations and counsel with Coaching Assistant to integrate findings to deliver value and accelerate growth Open to learning and growing for personal development Empowered to deliver with your Food Service team the transformative shopping experience that Dom’s Kitchen & Market will be legendary for The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this work. What Makes You Special You have a passion for Talk of the Town guest service and delivering an exceptional experience for team members and guests You have a proven work ethic with utmost integrity You speak with honesty and kindness You blend fun and joy in all that you do You enjoy an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results You lead with courage – you plan for excellence and don’t live in fear of failure You foster connection by placing team and guests first and building trusting relationships You are passionate, considerate, welcoming, friendly, energetic, positive, fun and self‑motivated You define the desire to excel and succeed You are dedicated to building a thriving business that will become the Talk of the Town Qualifications 5+ years’ leader experience in restaurant, hospitality or retail 4 year college degree, culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred Proven history of consistent high‑quality cuisine production Experience executing a successful Catering Operation Experience in cost controls Food Safety certification Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making and financial analysis Advanced computer skills Sense of urgency, time management, prioritization and multitasking skills Detail oriented Ability to maintain composure, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen environment Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays Availability must reflect the needs of the business, which may change from time to time Strong sense of team – desire to win together with a first‑class team Full Time Position Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to perform the following physical activities regularly: walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions Walking/Standing 90% and sitting 10% of day Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas and/or products Physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force often and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures – walk‑in coolers and freezers Exposure to chemicals and cleaning products Operating equipment (baler, compactor, power jack) Familiarity with and ability to utilize kitchen cutlery, slicers, blenders, gas‑fired cooking equipment, griddles, chicken fryers, ovens, scales, can openers and other culinary tools Work Authorization United States (Required) Dom’s Kitchen & Market is a proud equal opportunity employer.
