Fractional CMO / Senior Consumer Marketing Leader

Location: Remote

Duration: Approximately 2 months, starting ASAP

Schedule: Part-time and flexible, approximately 20 hours per week

The Opportunity

A high-growth consumer brand with established national retail distribution is seeking a senior marketing leader for a focused strategy engagement. The company has strong product-market fit and distribution; its next challenge is accelerating consumer demand, household penetration and retail velocity. This leader will partner with the CEO and marketing team to develop a clear, actionable growth strategy that identifies where the brand should concentrate its marketing investment to drive awareness, trial and measurable retail growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose the current demand equation, including who buys the brand, why they choose it and what is limiting household penetration.

• Quantify the consumer growth required to significantly increase retail velocity.
\n
• Identify the highest-potential consumer targets and strongest reasons to choose the brand.
\n
• Recommend the 2–3 demand-generation engines most likely to drive mass awareness and trial.
\n
• Evaluate investment across brand, creators, retail media, shopper marketing, sampling, PR and performance marketing.
\n
• Build a practical test-and-learn framework to measure incrementality before scaling nationally.
\n
• Deliver a concise demand and velocity brief for the internal marketing team to execute.
\n

Ideal Background

\n
• Former CMO or senior consumer marketing operator with recent, hands-on experience scaling a consumer goods challenger brand.
\n
• Personally helped grow a consumer brand to $150M+ in retail sales and establish category-leading velocity.
\n
• Experience scaling through Walmart and/or national mass, grocery or club retail.
\n
• Success driving awareness and trial in a high-frequency category such as beverages, snacks, breakfast or dairy.
\n
• Experience transitioning a brand from early adopter or DTC growth to mass retail scale.
\n
• Strong understanding of household penetration, incrementality, retail velocity and marketing effectiveness.
\n
• Comfortable making focused investment decisions within challenger-brand budgets.
\n
• Current fluency across evolving consumer channels, including creators, retail media, live shopping and TikTok Shop.
\n

This is best suited for a current or recent operator who has personally solved the challenge of converting national distribution into sustained consumer demand—not a traditional strategy consultant.
