GL Accountant

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a GL Accountant to join its finance team and provide hands-on support across general ledger accounting and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity for an accountant who wants to expand their experience in a collaborative, teaching-focused environment with the potential to grow into a long-term role. The GL Accountant will be responsible for general ledger and financial reporting for assigned units, with significant involvement in month-end close, reconciliations, grant accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis. This position also serves as a key finance resource to operational teams, providing guidance and helping resolve day-to-day accounting questions. Responsibilities Prepare monthly journal entries, including intercompany activity Support accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and review monthly financial statements and financial reports Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations Review AP and cash receipt activity for proper general ledger coding Coordinate grant revenue recognition, accruals, billing, and reporting Analyze financial results and investigate budget variances Assist with annual budgeting and internal and external audit schedules Partner with operational teams to resolve accounting and reporting questions Support capital project tracking and other accounting projects as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree with a concentration or significant coursework in Accounting 3–5+ years of accounting experience with strong general ledger experience Strong Excel skills Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities Self-starter who takes initiative and is eager to learn and grow Benefits Contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term growth Collaborative environment with an emphasis on training and development Broad exposure to general ledger accounting, grants, budgeting, financial reporting, and audit support Opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit organization Compensation: Up to $37/hour #GHJSS #LI-LM1 #J-18808-Ljbffr
