Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week with every-other-weekend requirement. Patient ratio 1:3. May be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level.

Highlights:

• High-acuity, fast-paced progressive care environment with 19-bed unit and daily census of 18 patients
• Diverse case mix including stroke, respiratory failure, cardiac conditions, overdose, liver/renal failure, DKA, and medically complex patients
• Advanced clinical skills including conscious sedation, ventilator management (stable vents), telemetry monitoring, and invasive line management
• Epic EMR system in use with 24 hours of paid orientation provided
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary team support including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and social services
• Two pre-approved time-off requests available during assignment

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown nursing experience required
• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Clinical competencies required: conscious sedation, care of ventilated patients, telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation and management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, central and peripheral line management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, insulin drip titration, heparin protocols, and code/rapid response participation
• Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
• Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal supervisor)
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently upon contract signing
