Employee Relations Specialist

Job Summary University Human Resource Management (UHRM) seeks an Employee Relations Specialist who will report to a Human Resources Associate Director. The Specialist will support various university departments, including academics and operations, focusing on employee relations, corrective and disciplinary actions, and liability management. The role also serves as the team’s focal point for processes and procedures related to the annual evaluation process, and engages in the implementation of employee relations policies and procedures, resolving workplace issues and advising employees on policies, performance management, corrective action, and issue resolution. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as University regulations regarding Human Resource activities. Perform special projects as assigned. Provide advice and consultation regarding Human Resources policies and procedures; recommend new policies and revisions. Evaluate and document Human Resources processes to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency. Recommend modifications to existing practices; develop, coordinate, and implement changes as needed. Write and edit documents in consultation with department managers to establish and follow University policies, procedures, and best practices. Collaborate closely with other Human Resource teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Minimum Qualifications 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (e.g., a bachelor’s degree equals 4 years of directly related work experience). Position may be filled at one of the following levels: Employee Relations Specialist I: Requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus 2 years of directly related work experience, or a master’s degree (or equivalency). Preferences Bilingual ability. Proven experience exercising strong communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff and faculty, both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi‑task with demanding time frames. Ability to work rapidly and accurately under pressure of competing deadlines and frequent interruptions in a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment. Skilled in managing sensitive and confidential information. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives.
